This Thursday we hosted our first Muthi Market Walkabout with 4th year students from DUT’s Homoeopharmaceutics.
We explored the history, culture, and controversy surrounding the Warwick Muthi Market. For many students it was their first time in the market, one of Africa’s largest, and the experience was eye-opening.
Students were given tasks to explore the stalls and talk with traders about the uses and sources of various herbal, animal and mineral medicines. Students observed methods of processing similar to their own traditions, and were awed at the depth and breadth of the traders knowledge.
Do you have a group who would like to explore the Durban Muthi Market and Traditional Medicine? Book with us here and tell us how we can help.
